I am still surprised about his previous pretty cold attitude towards the matter. Cold as from my point of view.

interesting you say that. from Jamie's perspective I suppose he's had some desensitizing in the form of police training. But also shock plays a major fact in the immediate hours after a tragic event. So it can also be attributed to the matter not fully sinking in yet.
still though, I appreciate your point of view!
