The name "Lil' Mãnqui" simply means "Little Monkey". The odd spelling stems from what I interpret the Portuguese phonetic spelling of the English word "monkey" would be.
This little fun fact arrives at a convenient time too. Anyone here interested/couldn't care less about the world cup in Brazil?
